One day a student passed me on this bicycle. I said to her, "Nice bike!" She asked if I wanted to buy it. I said yes!

This is a 1948 Raleigh three-speed equipped with a standard Sturmey-Archer AW hub - a roadster for the ladies. The old style trigger shifter can be used with both three-speed and four-speed hubs. The bicycle has roller-lever or rod brakes instead of the cable-actuated brakes found on almost all present-day bicycles. The lighting system consists of the front GH6 6 volt dynohub with a black face and front and rear lights. The drive train is enclosed in a gearcase - no more getting your trousers caught in the dirty chain! I particularly like the nickel-alloy sprocket and chromed spokes.
